Discover Your Story|
Everyone has stories to tell. EVERYONE. However, not everyone is comfortable or believes that they have stories that matter to the people around them. Not everyone is comfortable opening themselves up to a group of strangers and sharing their most vulnerable and honest stories.
I believe it's because the world is telling us who we are. We listen to these narratives on the tv, internet, and social media and we compare them to our own lives, and we start to believe that our stories do not matter when compared to THOSE stories. Or we are ashamed and afraid that we are those stories.
Even when we can relate to those stories, depending on who shared the story, we start to believe that our stories do not matter.
I'm Lily Be; I've been doing this my entire life but sharing stories on stage for over eight years.
My classes are not about teaching you how to perform your stories; I am showing you how to find them, structure them in a way that helps you make sense of your experiences so that you can share them with others. and make them uniquely YOUR STORIES. What you do with your stories is your business. I am just going to make sure that we get to the bottom of them, in a safe, friendly, fun environment.
I teach this class and seating is limited. Please share with people that want to learn how to discover their stories and learn how to tell them WITHOUT notes!
That's what I do. That is one of the things I'm known for in the storytelling community. I have NEVER written a story down on paper to rehearse for the stage. NEVER.
I have written and read on stage, but none of my Moth slam stories, Moth GRANDSLAM winning story, stories I have performed at every show in the city have EVER been written and memorized for performance, and this is what I teach.
I know I am the only person teaching this method of off-book storytelling.
It's a very unique class and I enjoy sharing the method to my madness.
Storytelling saved my life. That is not hyperbole.
Each week, we will focus on two different prompts and themes that I have created to help bring out some of our best stories.
Feedback sessions are designed to help each student discover, own, and then share their story. Your classmates will become your people, supporters, and hold testament to your truth and you will LOVE THEM for it.
After all, this is your life, you know it better than anyone, and I am just here to get you to own it and hopefully share it with as many people as you can get to listen.
Class size will be kept to 10 to ensure that everyone gets a chance to develop one 7 to 10-minute story that they can opt to share on stage at the end of the session.
